Riding Rolls-Royce Like Karl – Côte d’Azur, France

When I got the request to attend the presentation of the new Rolls-Royce Phantom II, of course I said yes. Karl Lagerfeld is riding one. And for one day, I had the chance to sort of smell the life style he is living.

The event took place at legendary Le Cap Estel, a popular hideaway for the rich and famous. Just the right place for the presentation of a car that is said to be the best in the world.

When I sat down in the back of the Phantom II for the test ride I immediately felt perfectly comfortable. After taking off my shoes to grab my toes into the super soft carpet I was ready to go. The driver started the engine, but I wasn’t sure if the motor was already running – „the sound of silence“. When we were gliding along the coast street I began to understand that sitting in the back of the Phantom is the ultimate experience of a car ride. Pure luxury.

It is the love for detail as you can see in the film. Mark is the only person at Rolls-Royce doing the coachlines – free handed! Well, he has to have a calm hand considering each Phantom II costs over 400.000€.

Only the best materials are used and Rolls-Royce tries to fulfill any extra wish of the customer. The Phantom is bespoke car manufacturing at its best.

By the end of the day, I chilled down at the pool before going back to the airport to catch my flight. To be honest, I would have preferred taking the Phantom back to Munich. Indeed the best car in the world.
